Samoa Sevens lose trio to injury

Samoa Sevens coach Fuimaono Titimaea has named his squad for the Wellington and Las Vegas legs on the World Series.

Titimaea will head into these tournaments without the services of Alatasi Tupou, Afa Aiono and Tom Iosefo, who are all sidelined due to injury.

This puts extra pressure on experienced players like Lolo Lui and Tim Nanai-Williams who will lead the Samoan charge in New Zealand and the USA.

Despite impressing in the opening leg of the World Series on Australia’s Gold Coast, Samoa made little impact in subsequent tournaments in Dubai and Port Elizabeth.

The Wellington Sevens takes place on 6 and 7 February and will be followed by the Las Vegas Sevens a week later, from 13 to 15 February.

Samoa Squad for Wellington and Las Vegas:

Reupena Levasa, Lafaele Vaa, Sam Franklin, Tain Lam, Greg Foe, Sani Niue, Lolo Lui, Tulolo Tulolo, Samoa Toloa, Tila Mealoi, Johnathan Malo, Fomai Ah Ki, Tim Nanai-Williams.
