Sale Sharks have announced the signing of England hooker Rob Webber on a two-year contract, with the 28-year-old set to arrive from Bath ahead of 2016/17.

Webber has 13 caps and was a member of England's 2015 World Cup squad. He started his career at Leeds Carnegie before moving to Wasps.

"Rob fits perfectly into what we are trying to create at the club. He is a talented all round player, who is great at the set-piece and very mobile in the loose. He is at the top of his game and will bring with him a wealth of experience," said director of rugby Steve Diamond.

Webber played 109 games for Wasps, including a spell as captain before his move to Bath in 2012. He has played 59 times for Bath scoring seven tries.

Talking about his move to the Sharks, Webber said: "I'm really looking forward to the new challenge ahead. I have spoken to Steve Diamond and the lads I know at the club and they have all spoken highly about the environment at Sharks and what the club are looking to achieve.

"I have enjoyed my time at Bath and would like to thank the coaches, players and supporters who have all been great with me since I joined from Wasps."

Diamond added: "We will be making more signings and announcing the key players who have signed new deals over the coming weeks."
