Sale Sharks have announced the signing of 32-year-old Tongan international Halani Aulika from London Irish.
Born in Tonga, the front-rower emigrated to New Zealand at the age of 17 and joined Auckland Rugby Club and then on to Otago in 2010.
Aulika then moved to the UK and played for Leeds before joining London Irish in 2012 and has played for the Exiles for four seasons.
Not only is Aulika a dominant tighthead, but he is also a regular try scorer and Sale fans may remember one he scored at the Madejski Stadium in 2013.
He represented Tonga in the 2011 World Cup in New Zealand. He was also a member of Tonga's Pacific Nations Cup Squad last year.
Sale director of rugby Steve Diamond, who is delighted with his latest signing, admits that he has been eyeing the hardman for a while.
"I have been watching Aulika all season and when his agent got in touch I didn't hesitate in signing him," Diamond said in an official Sale Sharks release:
"He is a great scrummager and puts himself about on the pitch. I am sure he will be a big asset for us next season and beyond."
