Sale Sharks have announced the signing of former England loose forward Magnus Lund from relegated French side Biarritz.

Sale Sharks have announced the signing of veteran loose forward Magnus Lund from Biarritz.

Lund returns to the Premiership club after playing in France for the last six years.

The 31-year-old flanker made his Sale Sharks debut back in 2002 against Bristol Shoguns as a 19-year-old and was a member of the team that won the Championship at Twickenham in May 2006, scoring Sale's first try in the win over Leicester Tigers.

During his six years as a Sharks player Lund was also capped 10 times by England and was a Silver Medal winner in the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Australia in the England Sevens team that also included David Seymour.

During his time in France, Lund captained Biarritz and was also a member of their team that were runners up to Toulouse in the 2010 Heineken Cup Final.

“I am delighted Magnus has signed for us,” Sale Sharks Director of Rugby Steve Diamond told his club's official website.

“I gave him his debut back in 2002 and have followed his career down the years. He is a great signing for us and will fit in perfectly with our plans.”
