Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder hopes that the club will see star winger George North back in action this weekend.

North has been away with Wales but missed the final Test and win over South Africa due to a concussion picked up against the All Blacks.

Back in the Saints camp before their visit to Treviso, Mallinder hopes to have the British and Irish Lion available.

“George was in last week and he’s recovering well,” Mallinder told the Northampton Chronicle and Echo.

“He was away last weekend because we gave him a few days off and he’ll come in and we’ll have a good look at him.

“Hopefully he’ll be available for selection for the weekend.”

Northampton also welcomed back number eight Sam Dickinson for his first action of the season in the 43-17 win over London Welsh after a neck problem.

“It’s fantastic when you get players back from long-term injuries and Sam’s looking in good shape,” said Mallinder.

“He’s looking big, physical and he’ll be really delighted that he’s got his game under his belt now and he’ll be looking forward to hopefully being selected this week.”
