Scotland are well-placed ahead of the Six Nations after a strong November showing, according to fly-half Finn Russell.

The youngster started all three Tests this month as the Scots, under new coach Vern Cotter, picked up impressive wins over Argentina and Tonga, while pushing New Zealand hard last weekend.

It was a definite step up in performance as Scotland played with great ambition and enterprise and Glasgow playmaker Russell is optimistic they will be able to carry that form through to the Six Nations.

“We have taken a some big steps forward over the past three weekends,” Russell told the Scottish Express.

“We beat Argentina comfortably, we ran New Zealand close, and then we managed to not just grind it out, but put in a strong second half and create a few tries against Tonga.

“Personally, it has been amazing for me to get my first three Test starts. The experience has given me a lot of confidence.

“I reckon we are in a good place going into the Six Nations.”
