Scotland fly-half and recent British and Irish Lions call-up Finn Russell has been linked with a move to Montpellier.
According to The Scotsman, Russell has signed a pre-contract with the Top 14 giants, who are bankrolled by millionaire Mourad Boudjellal, to join the club in 2018.
The move would see Russell link up once again with Vern Cotter, the former Scotland boss who has taken over at Montpellier ahead of next season.
Russell’s move is believed to coincide with the future departure of François Steyn. Montpellier have signed All Blacks number ten Aaron Cruden ahead of the 2017/2018, meaning with Russell’s addition they would be extremely well stocked at fly-half.
Russell has been named on the bench for the Lions’ match against the Chiefs on Tuesday, a few days after impressing against for Scotland in their win over Australia.
