Russell cited for ‘dangerous tackle’

Finn Russell, the Scotland fly-half, has been cited by an independent Citing Commissioner for a dangerous tackle on Dan Biggar at Murrayfield.

The player was yellow-carded in the 30th minute of the Six Nations match between Scotland and Wales on Sunday.
 
The player's hearing, before an independent Six Nations Disciplinary Committee of three, will be held later this week.
 
The independent Citing Commissioner for the match was Eugene Ryan (Ireland)

Law 10.4(e) – Dangerous tackling.
A player must not tackle an opponent whose feet are off the ground.

Law 10.4(j) – Lifting a player from the ground and dropping or driving that player into the ground whilst that player's feet are still off the ground such that the player's head and/or upper body come into contact with the ground is dangerous play.
