Ireland could be sweating over the fitness of Mike Ross after the Leinster tighthead prop suffered a hamstring tear against Toulon.

The injury occurred during the Champions Cup meeting at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday and according to The Irish Times, he is in a race against time to be fit for the Six Nations. Ross is now 36 years old but remains a key figure in the international pack going into the new year.

Another concern for Leinster comes at fly-half where Jonathan Sexton injured a quadriceps muscle in the same game. However, the newspaper added that Leinster aren't ruling him out of this week's PRO12 derby against Munster at Thomond Park as fourth meets third in the league.

Cian Healy meanwhile will discover on Wednesday the outcome of his appeal of the two-week suspension he picked up against Toulon in France.
