Former All blacks wing Joe Rokocoko has extended his contract with Top 14 club Bayonne by three seasons.

Former All blacks wing Joe Rokocoko has extended his contract with Top 14 club Bayonne by three seasons.

The 31-year-old arrived in the Basque country in 2011 and although he had a slow start to his career in France, the record-breaking Test winger has come good in recent times.

Key to his new-found success has been a switch to outside centre and the veteran flyer has now played over 70 games for l’Aviron

Although the blistering pace that saw him score 25 tries in his first 20 Tests has faded a little, the experience of having played 68 games for the All Blacks still makes Rokocoko a dangerous customer.

He has started all nine of Bayonne’s game in the Top 14 this season, scoring four tries, to help his team to tenth in the standings.

Bayonne host league leaders Clermont on Saturday.
