Chris Robshaw faces a spell on the sidelines with an injured shoulder and will see a specialist this week about the problem.
The England captain has been ruled out of this weekend’s Champions Cup clash with Leinster because of the problem, and with an update on his return expected later in the week.
Some early reports indicated that surgery is one possibility to resolve the problem however that appears to be simply speculation at this stage.
Robshaw, who played the full game against Leinster, is not the only Quins player who will be missing this weekend, with Nick Evans also set to miss out, having been forced off after just 11 minutes in the win at the Stoop.
Tim Swiel replaced him in that game, but Evans is expected to be fit for Harlequins’ next Premiership game against Newcastle in ten days.
Quins beat Leinster 24-18 at the Stoop to go top of Pool 2 of the Champions Cup before the return fixture in Dublin on Saturday.
