Rise of Naholo doesn’t surprise Savea

Hurricanes winger Julian Savea isn't shocked at the top form of his Highlanders opponent on Saturday, Waisake Naholo.

Both players could potentially start for the All Blacks in the upcoming Rugby Championship after they were named in Steve Hansen's squad.

The two flyers will match up opposite one another on their wing in the Super Rugby Final this weekend.

Savea is looking forward to the challenge of trying to keep Naholo under wraps, something that many sides have struggled to do this season.

Naholo, who was previously set to join Clermont in the Top 14, is currently the top try scorer in Super Rugby with 12 this season.

"He's proven to be one of the best in the competition," Savea told NZ Newswire.

"It's exciting, marking him is a new challenge. If you don't contain him, he's going to cause trouble for us.

"[His progress] hasn't surprised me. With some players it takes time and it was more when he was going to break out.

"He's the leading tryscorer and he deserves it, he works hard."
