Dan Carter revealed he set out to make the most of playing in the fly-half shirt for the Crusaders before a strong performance on Friday.
Carter has been used mainly at inside centre by the Crusaders this season given the good form of Colin Slade.
Slade's season-ending injury however has meant a return to the number ten shirt for Carter, who was excellent in the win over the Hurricanes.
"To be back in the familiar jersey of 10 is something I really wanted to make the most of tonight and I was pretty happy with how the team played," Carter told Stuff.
Coach Todd Blackadder backed up his fly-half while also being pleased with the return of Robbie Fruean at outside centre.
Blackadder was also delighted with the side's all-round performance.
"I think [Carter's] actions spoke for themselves. We've really missed that go-forward in the midfield [from Fruean].
"We've talked about belief all season and we selected a team that was keen and hungry, desperate and determined and they just played well."
