London Irish scrum-half Brendan McKibbin doesn't feel that the club will be worrying about relegation at the end of the season.
The Exiles are currently bottom of the Premiership after just one win from their first eight league games, although that came on December 26 against Northampton Saints.
Irish face Newcastle this weekend in a must-win game for both sides as they look to make up ground on the rest of the field.
With 14 rounds still to go McKibbin believes the squad are improving and that if they keep up their rate of progress then they can challenge the top sides.
"People understand what happens in the league but I don't think relegation is going to be a problem or an issue for us," McKibbin said.
"If we keep getting our things right and our growth right continually then we will be fine.
"We've made mistakes in our game over the course of the season, so it is just about getting that consistency right.
"If we can put it on for 70 or 80 minutes rather than 40 or 50 then I think some of the top teams will really struggle."
