PRO12 final day: Who needs what?

Date published: May 7 2016

Ahead of Saturday’s kick-offs here’s a quick look at all the permutations for the play-offs and top six in the PRO12.

The winner out of Connacht and Glasgow Warriors will guarantee a home semi-final in the play-offs, with the losers having to wait on other results.

Leinster require a maximum point win to guarantee a home spot in the play-offs, less if Connacht do not beat Glasgow Warriors.

Ulster will need to win away to the Ospreys to make sure of fourth spot ahead of the Scarlets, who will hope to secure a victory in the final game of the regular PRO12 season to keep hopes of a play-off spot alive given they start the day one point outside the top four.

Munster need two points from their game to secure Champions Cup rugby in 2016/17, anything less and they could open the door for Ospreys, who require a victory to give themselves any chance of acquiring a Champions Cup spot for next season and even then it may still not be enough.

Edinburgh could still mathematically make Champions Cup qualification but would need a maximum point win and even then would depend upon other results going their way.

Meanwhile at the bottom, one point seperates Treviso and Zebre for the final Champions Cup spot out of the two Italian sides. Zebre host the Dragons, while Treviso are at Leinster.
