South African lock David Bulbring has been named in Scarlets coach Wayne Pivac's starting XV for the all-important PRO12 clash against Edinburgh at Parc y Scarlets on Friday.

Having arrived in West Wales last week 26-year-old Bulbring will line-up in the second row with fellow South African George Earle.

Phil John retains his place in a new-look front row to the one that faced Connacht a few weeks ago. Kirby Myhill comes in at hooker with Peter Edwards packing down at tighthead in his first PRO12 start since November.

Aaron Shingler, Will Boyde and Morgan Allen line up in an unchanged back-row for the third consecutive time.

Rhodri Williams, DTH van der Merwe and Hadleigh Parkes retain their places at scrum-half, wing and inside centre respectively with Gareth Owen moving from outside centre to the wing.

Steven Shingler gets the nod to start at outside half whilst Regan King returns to the starting line-up along with fellow Kiwi Michael Collins returning at full-back.

Aled Davies has also been released from Wales camp and tighthead prop Rhodri Jones will make his 100th appearance for the Scarlets from the replacements bench.

Speaking ahead of the must win clash head coach Pivac said: "We're looking forward to getting back out on the pitch to right the wrongs of the last round. We've put in a lot of hard work this week to eradicate the errors.

"Edinburgh's scrums have gone really well. They drive a lot of their line out and have been picking up a lot of penalties and scoring tries from there.

"We really want to get back to winning ways and finish the season strongly like we started. It is really important to get points out of every game."

Meanwhile, for Edinburgh, there are five changes to the side that endured a frustrating loss to Cardiff away last time out.

Keeping the 15 jersey is full-back Greig Tonks with Damien Hoyland returning from injury on the right wing and Tom Brown maintaining his spot on the left. The centre pairing see Michael Allen remain at outside centre with Sam Beard returning to the starting line-up at inside centre in place of the injured Andries Strauss and Chris Dean.

Recently-announced re-signing, stand-off Phil Burleigh, and scrum half Nathan Fowles continue their half-back partnership.

In the pack, Rory Sutherland, Neil Cochrane and John Andress again make up the front row with a new-look second row of Anton Bresler and Ben Toolis. Captain Mike Coman resumes his usual position on the blindside, after a foray at lock last time out, while Hamish Watson and Cornell Du Preez remain at openside and number eight respectively.

Head coach Alan Solomons said: "The Scarlets at home is always incredibly tough and we will need to improve considerably from our Cardiff performance to get a result."
