Wellington will welcome the return of some experienced players for their clash with Northland in Whangarei on Saturday.

Prop Reggie Goodes, hooker Motu Matu'u, and lock Kaipati Gaualofa will add some reinforcement to the forward pack, while scrum-half Frae Wilson makes a welcome return after undergoing knee surgery.

The Lions won this match 30-10 in Whangarei last year.

Prior to that, the two provinces have met sporadically, with Wellington's previous two visits to the far north resulting in a 41-7 win in 2009, and a 43-27 win in 2005.
