Positive news for Waldrom

Exeter number eight Thomas Waldrom insists he is feeling good after returning from a knee injury against the Scarlets in last week's game.

The 33-year-old finished on top of the Premiership try standings on 13 last season before a knee problem prematurely ended his campaign.

But now fully recovered and after enjoying 40 minutes against the Welsh side in a pre-season match at Sandy Park, he's feeling positive.

"There were no problems in the game whatsoever," he told the Exeter Express and Echo, after having claimed a try against the Scarlets.

"The knee is good and all the physios and staff have done really well, so there are no effects whatsoever.

"I'm all ready to go and it was nice to be out there on Saturday."

He added: "We made a few mistakes but it was nice to be out there. You can't read too much into it – it was a 40-minute run around, really.

"It blew the cobwebs out and the next few games will be a good indication, I think."

Waldrom will hope to be the Premiership's top try-scorer for three successive seasons this term after also topping the 2014/15 chart.
