Australia back-row David Pocock believes New Zealand will have no trouble filling the Richie McCaw void in this year's Rugby Championship.

Pocock spoke about the changing of the guard, with McCaw now officially retired from international rugby, and the duo of Ardie Savea and Sam Cane surging into the spotlight after each of them had a strong Super Rugby seasons.

"He was a feature for as long as I can remember, watching and playing, so certainly it's a different (New Zealand) back-row combination there," Pocock told the New Zealand Herald ahead of the two teams' meeting in Sydney.

"But from what we've seen during Super Rugby and the June Tests, there's certainly no shortage of talent in that area for the New Zealand team.

"They are both very talented. It's the kind of headache you want as a coach."
