Former Stormers and Biarritz back Joe Pietersen has been named in an expanded 55-man Cheetahs training squad ahead of Super Rugby.

The squad will commence pre-season on November 10, before breaking on December 12 and re-convening on January 5 a little more than a month ahead of the team’s first competitive match against the Sharks on February 14.

The Cheetahs start their Super Rugby campaign on the road against the defending South African Conference champions before a Round Two bye and then three consecutive home clashes against the Blues, Bulls and Sharks.

The team then hits the road in Round Six for matches against the Crusaders, Chiefs, Brumbies and Force.

Drotske will re-take the reins at the Bloemfontein franchise after returning from a professional development trip to Europe, while Rory Duncan presided over the Currie Cup side.
