Picamoles shines at French camp

Powerful number eight Louis Picamoles has stood out so far in France's World Cup preparation according to reports.

Picamoles has endured a tough season, with a lung infection keeping him out of action in the opening months of the season.

He slowly got back up to speed with Toulouse, and was called into the French squad at the end of the Six Nations without playing a game.

However the training camp ahead of the World Cup has seen Picamoles shine, regaining all of his trademark power as he tries to nail down the French number eight spot.

"Frankly, for the moment, one player is standing out. When you see what he (Picamoles) is capable of in the training sessions, it's incredible," said a source to Rugbyrama.

"He has impressive power in his legs. And when you see him without a top, he might not be toned but he has raw power. In the collisions he hurts people. Honestly, he stands out from the rest."

"I'm back to my ideal weight," explained Picamoles.

"It allowed me to work on some things that I hadn't worked on before. This illness was beneficial in some ways. I have to take the positives.

"I lost some kilos that I didn't need. The weights helped me build up by upper body which can also help me recover from the impacts."
