Pau shock poor Toulouse

Pau moved up to ninth position in the standings as they shocked Top 14 heavyweights Toulouse 9-6 in a try-less match at Stade Du Hameau.

Sitting bottom before kick-off, these four points see the newly-promoted side go above Agen, Stade Français, La Rochelle, Oyonnax and Bordeaux-Bègles.

Toulouse meanwhile had their 100 percent record ended in disappointing style as they could not break the Pau defensive line and must settle for the one point.

After a scoreless 32 minutes, Pau finally broke the deadlock with a penalty from scrum-half Samuel Marquez which was how it stayed until the half-time break.

Half-back partner and Argentina international Santiago Fernandez landed a drop-goal to double their advantage in front of their supporters on 45 minutes.

And the lead would grow on the hour mark thanks to Marquez's second penalty before Toby Flood responded with two penalties to set up a nervy finish for Pau with twelve minutes remaining. However, they held on for a shock triumph.
