Pau stayed in contention for a play-off place when they claimed an emphatic 38-15 victory over Lyon at Stade de Hameau on Sunday.
The home side were full value for their win and dominated for large periods and outscored Lyon by five tries to two.
Tighthead prop Malik Hamadache led the way with a brace of five-pointers and former All Black fly-half Colin Slade also impressed with an 11-point haul courtesy of four conversions and a penalty.
Lyon were competitive during the early stages but faded badly as the game progressed and Pau led 28-10 at half-time.
The visitors were fastest out of the blocks and were rewarded when Toby Arnold scored the opening try, which Fred Michalak converted, in the sixth minute but Pau struck back shortly afterwards when Mosese Ratuvou crossed the whitewash.
Lyon then suffered a major setback in the 11th minute when Michalak was forced off the field with a thigh injury. He was replaced by Mike Harris but they never recovered from losing the former France international.
Jérôme Porical took over the goalkicking duties and although he added a penalty, Pau started to dominate and Sean Dougall soon crossed for their second try.
The rest of the half belonged to Hamadache who went over for two well-taken tries in the half's latter stages but Pau suffered a setback in the 52nd minute when Watisoni Votu was sent to the sin bin for a professional foul on defence.
Three minutes later, Lyon were also reduced to 14 men when Francisco Gomez Kodela was yellow carded for illegal scrummaging. Slade converted the resulting penalty but we had to wait until the 72nd minute for the next points to be added when Napolioni Nalaga crossed for a try which added some respectability to the score.
But Pau were not finished and sealed their win when Julien Fumat scored their fifth try in the 78th minute.
