London Wasps have confirmed that England lock Tom Palmer will require calf surgery, ruling him out for around eight weeks.

Palmer lost his place in the England Elite Player Squad to Wasps team-mate Joe Launchbury earlier this month.

The most recent of the former Stade Francias lock's 42 caps for England came during the November Internationals playing against Australia.

Palmer's surgery comes after failing to respond to treatment on the injury.
He has been selected for the Saxons but will now be unavailable for all matches over the next two months, ruling out a recall to the senior England squad during the Six Nations.
