Paige named Bulls vice-captain

Rudy Paige continues his stellar rise having been named Bulls vice-captain for the upcoming Super Rugby season.

Paige, who was a surprise selection in last year's Springbok World Cup squad and has two Test Caps for the Boks, will assist Bulls captain Adriaan Strauss.

Springbok fly-half Handre Pollard was named vice-captain of the Bulls at the end of last year. However a shoulder injury aggravated during his Japanese stint has ruled the Bok play-maker out of the opening weeks of Super Rugby. Francois Brummer will take over from the injured Pollard at fly-half.

But Pollard's injury could sideline him for longer than intially expected.

The live-wire presence and popularity of Heidelberg-born Paige amongst his team-mates makes him an obvious replacement for Pollard as the vice-captain.

A team-building tour, which starts at the end of January, to Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe will be used to put things in place for the Bulls campaign.

Apart from this tour there are only two pre-season matches scheduled for the Bulls, one against the Cheetahs on 31 January and one against the Lions a week later.

The squad for the tour will be announced later in the last week of January.
