London Irish hooker David Paice is ready for "the biggest game in the club's history" when they face Newcastle at Kingston Park on Sunday.

Trailing the Falcons by four points at the foot of the Premiership, the Exiles know that a defeat would serious hurt their survival hopes.

But after an impressive performance in their loss at Harlequins in the Challenge Cup, the experienced Paice believes they enter confident.

"We had one eye on the Newcastle game. The players really stepped up and performed," he told BBC Sport ahead of the crunch fixture.

"It's the biggest game of our season and probably in the club's history."

He added: "What we did at Quins was not show too much. We just had a simple game-plan, so we're going to expand on that.

"We showed a lot of heart and a lot of good things. Hopefully, we can take those into this week and build on them."
