Otago picked up a 32-29 win against Premiership opponents Bay of Plenty in their ITM Cup fixture on Sunday, with Hayden Parker kicking 22 points.

In an entertaining contest at Forsyth Barr Stadium, the hosts would be made to come from behind after the Steamers had an early 0-10 lead thanks to Tino Nemani's converted try and a penalty.

And that Otago did as Peter Breen's try would lead to it being 10-16 against their Premiership opponents, with the crowd fully behind them.

Joe Royal would reply for the visitors but TJ Ioane's try and Parker's solid kicking meant that Otago would start the season with a fine victory.
