Scotland winger Lee Jones will turn out for Glasgow Warriors this season after signing a one-year deal with the side.

The 26-year-old has been with the Warriors since February having joined on loan from Edinburgh where he began his professional career.

Jones made his international debut for Scotland in 2012, starting four games during the Six Nations, but since then his progress has stalled and he has not featured at Test level.

Having fallen out of favour with both Scotland and Edinburgh, Jones has turned his attention to Sevens, and has become an important player for Scotland, featuring in the Commonwealth Games where he scored in every game.

And his new deal with the Warriors will allow him to continue turning out for Scotland Sevens on the IRB circuit, but Jones revealed he is keen to cement his place in the Warriors team first and foremost.

“Playing for Glasgow Warriors and Scotland 7s is the best of both worlds for me,” said Jones

“I've enjoyed life at Glasgow and managed to get a few games last season which was really enjoyable.

“It's a club on the up and seeing the level of support in Dublin at the PRO12 Final showed that.

“I'm looking forward to hopefully being involved against Harlequins this weekend and then London Scottish next week. I want to challenge for a starting place at Glasgow.”
