Leinster head coach Matt O'Connor took pleasure from his team's improved display in their 42-12 thrashing of the Scarlets.

Rob Kearney and Ian Madigan both scores two tries each as the Pro12 champions responded to a Round One loss to Glasgow Warriors.

Picking out the performances of some of the younger players in the matchday squad, O'Connor felt progress had been made with the win.

“I thought Mick McGrath and Steve Crosbie were very good out there and Benjy Marshall is making good progress,” said O'Connor.

“The squad is moving forward and that's what we're going to need.

“We were disappointed off the back of last week and we put a lot of those things right, which was pleasing.

“There was a different dynamic slightly – they're (Glasgow) a very good side defensively on that little pitch in Glasgow so we knew it would be a bit different.”
