Ireland captain Paul O'Connell is set to make contact with Toulon after being made aware of Tuesday's story linking the club to a criminal investigation.
Pharmacies in Toulon are accused of illegally supplying RCT players, with an investigation launched in Marseille.
Toulon owner Mourad Boudjellal rubbished the claims at a press conference but O'Connell is still keen to speak with the club to understand the situation fully.
“Some of the lads told me about it before training, they’d obviously been reading a news website,” O'Connell told the Irish Post.
“I don’t know anything about it but I’ll be making a phone call to see what the story is.
“It’s not a great thing to hear at all, no but hopefully there’s a sensible explanation for it. I’m going to try and find out what the story is.”
O'Connell is due to join Toulon after the Rugby World Cup, after 14 years playing for Munster.
