Guy Novès has hit back at Clermont lock Jamie Cudmore, who accused Yoann Huget of being a coward on Twitter.
Huget has been at the centre of a controversy over footage of a stamp on Bordeaux-Bègles second row Jandre Marais.
The French winger escaped sanction because footage of the incident emerged after the citing window had closed, but Cudmore, no stranger to disciplinary committees, made his view clear this week.
The two could face off this week if Cudmore has recovered from a recent concussion as Clermont face Toulouse in the Top 14 semi-final in Bordeaux.
And Novès continued the war of words, questioning whether Cudmore was in a position to take the moral high ground.
"The commission where lucid and didn't allow themselves to be influenced by a Canadian who has received lots of cards but still feels he can lecture others."
Run of play is one thing but intentionally stepping on someone's face is another level ! What a coward. https://t.co/3vnaCdBolM
