Northampton hammer Treviso

Northampton ran in eight tries as they cruised to a bonus-point win with a 67-0 success over Treviso at Franklin’s Gardens.

Samu Manoa and Ken Pisi grabbed hat-tricks, while George North, Kahn Fotuali’i, George Pisi and Ben Foden also crossed, with the Saints also picking up a penalty try.

Saints were awarded a penalty try in the 12th minute of the game when Treviso’s Francesco Minto came offside from the scrum and it was the start of a dominant run from the home side.

Winger North was the first player to crash over the line after a series of quick hands found him out on the wing and he raced over in the corner to score.

A fantastic team effort then sent Fotuali’i over, superbly worked from Northampton’s own 22 and now the tries were coming thick and fast from the Saints.

Treviso’s cause was not helped when Marco Fuser was sent to the sin-bin, meaning they would have to play the final ten minutes of the half with 14 men.

Ken Pisi was the player responsible for the bonus point, diving over for Northampton’s fourth try with absolutely no reply from Treviso, the score at 24-0 at the half-time whistle.

Northampton opened the second half just as they did the first, with the other Pisi brother finding the try line in just the second minute of the half.

His younger brother quickly claimed his second try of the game and the Saints seemed to be almost scoring tries for fun as by now, Treviso were well and truly out of the game.

American Manoa crashed over the line on his first touch of the ball and he was in for his second just minutes later, this time with man of the match Wilson securing the conversion.

Things went from bad to worse for Treviso when they had Cosma Garfagnoli shown a yellow card in the 67th minute.

Manoa then claimed his hatrick, bringing his total to three tires in just 13 minutes of being on the field before Ken Pisi claimed his own hat-trick just moments later.

Foden scored Northampton’s final and 11th try of the game to seal a 67-0 victory and keep them at the top of Pool 5.
