England centre Luther Burrell has played down the enormity of Saturday's World Cup warm-up clash with France from a personal perspective.

Burrell, who watched last week as Sam Burgess and Henry Slade impressed at Twickenham, is battling for a place in Stuart Lancaster's final 31-man squad.

He will start in Paris alongside Jonathan Joseph and while he admits it is a huge Test match, he won't be feeling any more pressure on his shoulders.

"I wouldn't say there is extra pressure," centre Burrell told BBC Sport.

"For me it's about controlling what I can control and that's performing well this weekend.

"The usual pressure is going to be there. It's a big Test match. The last thing I need is any added pressure.

"Burgess and Slade coming through is competition, it's healthy, and it's keeping everybody on their toes.

"Those boys had their opportunity on Saturday. It's our opportunity this weekend."
