Ireland captain Jamie Heaslip is continuing to recover from his shoulder injury, but will have no contact training this week.
Joe Schmidt will be hope to have his captain available and fully fit for Ireland’s visit to Italy next weekend.
Scrum-half Conor Murray is scheduled to have further scans this week, while Keith Earls, Robbie Henshaw and Kieran Marmion are all fit to train.
There is less good news for other players, as Eoin Reddan strained medial ligaments in his knee and is being rehabbed in an effort to be fit for the first game.
Rhys Ruddock did not join up with the extended Ireland Squad this week and will continue his recovery with his province.
