Patrick Sio, who has been compared to Wallabies and Waratahs number eight Wycliff Palu, has signed for Stade Français.

The Australia U20 star has made the move after not being picked up by any of the Super Rugby franchises.

“He is the closest thing to Cliffy Palu we’ve got,” Sio's coach at Eastwood, John Manenti, told Fox Sports.

“He is not Cliffy yet, but he is a robust ball-carrying number eight who I expect will develop really well in the next few years.

“He was player of the year in the team that won the grand final, but obviously other people aren’t seeing what I am seeing. I don’t suggest I know more than those people.

“I am just personally surprised that none of the franchises would be prepared to invest in such a strong talent.

"Pat is very dominant, he has only just turned 20 and he has a huge future in our game. I think that by the end of this season he’d be well and truly ready for Super Rugby. Hopefully he will go over there and come back and somebody will have the nous to pick him up.”
