Naiyaravoro ‘still going to Glasgow’

Wallabies squad member Taqele Naiyaravoro is still heading to Glasgow Warriors and will do so following his 2015 international commitments.

That was the word from the 23-year-old's agent Tyran Smith which contradicts reports in the Australian media which hinted that the 123kg flyer will not be leaving the country after he was called up to the Wallabies' squad for the upcoming Rugby Championship.

Naiyaravoro, who played for the Waratahs in Super Rugby, signed a three-year contract to join the Warriors.

"He's definitely coming to Glasgow to honour his commitments, at least for the first year," Smith told the BBC.

If Naiyaravoro should leave Australia to play for Glasgow it will rule him out of international contention.

The Australian Rugby Union's foreign policy rule allows them to select only those overseas players who have made 60 or more Test appearances and played at Super Rugby level for seven years.

"There's a bit of a personal family thing – he's had another baby and his wife was finding it hard for personal reasons," added Smith.

"She needed his support and moving away was a big decision, but he's honouring his first commitment, then we'll go from there.

"He's been a little bit naive.

"I've heard all the reports and I've been in contact regularly with him clarifying."
