Naholo ‘must start against Wales’

Highlanders coach Tony Brown was full of praise for All Black winger Waisake Naholo after another good performance on the wing.

After being out of action for two months due to injury, Naholo is certainly creating a big headache for the national team selectors with two blockbusting performances down the wing in the space of two weeks.

Naholo followed up last weekend’s two try tally with another two tries on Friday as he helped the defending champions to a 34-26 victory over the Crusaders.

Highlanders assistant coach Tony Brown told Stuff that Naholo possesses a variety of skills which makes him into a complete player: “His skill-set is just phenomenal.

“He can punt it as good as our first fives, his passing skills are as good as our inside backs, and then his ability to dominate guys in contact or beat them on the outside makes him one of the most dangerous players in the world.”

Brown added that Naholo should be starting more often for the All Blacks with performances like these.

“Waisake gives them someone who can go out there and light it up,” he added.

“I’ll be very surprised if he’s not starting the first test against Wales.”
