The Ospreys have announced the signing of former Springbok tighthead prop Brian Mujati on a short term contract.
The 32-year-old signs until the end of the season to provide injury cover with Ospreys tightheads, Dmitri Arhip and Ma’afu Fia out of action and Rhodri Jones currently part of Rob Howley’s Wales squad and potentially unavailable over the next month.
Capped 12 times for South Africa, Mujati has played in Super Rugby with the Lions and Stormers, in the Top14 in France with Racing Metro, and the Premiership with Northampton Saints and Sale Sharks.
While at Northampton, he was a losing Heineken Cup and Premiership finalist, and an LV= Cup winner.
Mujati will link up with the Ospreys at Llandarcy Academy of Sport on Monday and is available to play against Munster at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.
Born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, the 32-year old is renowned as a powerful and destructive scrummager, and brings with him a wealth of top level experience across both hemispheres.
