The Crusaders could lose hooker Corey Flynn and scrum-half Willi Heinz for a lengthy period due to injuries suffered in last weekend's win over the Stormers.

Flynn sustained a suspected fractured eye socket during the 14-13 victory in Christchurch on Saturday and must have a scan to determine the extent of the damage.

“It was only after the game that they realised something wasn't quite right,” Crusaders boss Todd Blackadder told Fairfax Media.

“He talked about some discomfort at half-time but it didn't seem too over the top at the time.”

If the fracture is confirmed, Flynn, could go under the knife and may be sidelined for several months.

Blackadder doesnt expect Heinz, who suffered a calf muscle injury to be back in Super Rugby any time soon.

“He's pulled his calf and it sounds like a serious one,” said the coach.

“That means Mitchell (Drummond) will come in.”

These injuries are the latest in a growing list for the Crusaders after just three matches.

All Blacks captain Richie McCaw (fractured thumb) and fellow flanker George Whitelock (strained adductor muscle), and utility back Adam Whitelock (hamstring) are also on the sidelines. Wing Nafi Tuitavake may recover from his hamstring injury to face the Rebels in Melbourne on Friday.
