Montpellier put pressure on Clermont

Montpellier moved level on points with Top 14 pace-setters Clermont after they edged out Bordeaux-Bègles 31-26 on Friday.

It was 10-10 at the break at Altrad Stadium after a try for either side from Jean-Baptiste Dubié and Nemani Nadolo respectively, with Simon Hickey and Frans Steyn slotting a conversion and penalty apiece.

Vincent Martin then nudged Montpellier in front two minutes into the second-half before Nic White slotted a penalty that made it 18-10.

Replacement scrum-half Baptiste Serin pulled UBB back into the contest on 64 minutes but the boot of Steyn and a further try from Joe Tomane saw Montpol come out on top, putting the heat on Clermont and La Rochelle, who face Toulon and Castres respectively this weekend.
