The Rebels are set to do without utility back Lachlan Mitchell for the remainder of the season, it was confirmed on Monday.

Mitchell, making his 50th appearance for the franchise during Friday's 32-8 defeat to the Waratahs, suffered a right knee fracture that will rule him out of further involvement with the 2014 Super Rugby campaign.

Fellow squad players Telusa Veainu and Lopeti Timani will also miss the whole of April after picking up thumb and knee injuries respectively while on Dewar Shield duty.

Elsewhere, hooker Tom Sexton's phased rehabilitation from a pre-season knock continues to progress, while prop Toby Smith is following return to play concussion protocols after sustaining a head injury during Friday's loss.

Jason Woodward will be assessed ahead of this weekend's meeting with Australian rivals, the Brumbies, and Laurie Weeks will be available for selection after his week-long sit-out period post-concussion.
