Minute’s silence for Paris victims

France’s Ligue Nationale de Rugby have announced that a minute’s silence will be held ahead of this weekend’s Top 14 games out of respect for the victims of Wednesday’s shootings in Paris.

Gunmen shot dead 12 people – including two policemen and ten journalists – at the Paris office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in an apparent militant Islamist attack.

The LNR has released a statement saying that a minute’s silence will be observed at all of the stadiums around the country during Round 16 of the Top 14, as well as all of this weekend’s ProD2 matches.

In March 2012, all the French clubs also held a minute of silence in memory of the seven people who were killed in Toulouse by self-proclaimed Islamic extremist.
