Schalk Burger is to have minor surgery as he continues his recovery from a recent operation to reduce pressure on a nerve in a calf muscle.
Stormers veteran flank Schalk Burger is to undergo a minor procedure as he continues his recovery from a recent operation to reduce pressure on a troublesome nerve in his calf muscle.
Bok back-row Burger underwent surgery at the end of March on a nerve in his back and will on Wednesday have that wound drained in hospital.
“Schalk has had a tough time, but he has been recovering well at home and has been in better spirits of late,” Burger's agent told the Stormers.
“He will return to hospital (on Wednesday) to have the wound drained and cleaned up and he will return home when the doctors are happy that he is well enough (to do so).”
Burger contracted bacterial meningitis after his operation in March and continues to recover from that setback. It is not known at this stage when he will be fit to return to training at the South African side.
