Wallaby coach Ewen McKenzie admits that Kurtley Beale's decision to sign with the Waratahs is one that is much to his satisfaction.
Beale, regarded by many as one of Australia's best natural talents, has endured a torrid year that has seen him sent home from tour with the Rebels – whom he was later released by – and admitted to a rehabilitation facility for alcohol-related issues.
His future has been the subject of many column inches, and it has long been speculated that he would return home to Sydney and turn out for the Waratahs, a move that was confirmed on Thursday.
“It's really good news for Australian rugby and great news for the Waratahs, he's a high-quality player,” commented McKenzie.
“Given the Waratahs brand of football, he'll really add to the mix there.
“I'm looking forward to having him back playing his best footy, that's obviously a good thing for the Wallabies.”
