Sale Sharks have announced the signing of full-back Byron McGuigan from Premiership rivals Exeter Chiefs on a two-year deal.

The Namibian-born back has previously played for Border Bulldogs, Glasgow Warriors and also for Bay of Plenty in New Zealand's ITM Cup.

He has had a taste of the Aviva Premiership, having played for Exeter Chiefs since November 2014. He went on to make 18 appearances for the Chiefs in all competitions.

McGuigan has also played Sevens for Scotland in 2012, making six appearances and scoring nine tries.

Sale Sharks' director of Rugby Steve Diamond said: "Byron is a great addition to the squad, who'll fit in really well.

"He'll add to our squad as we aim to get in the Top Four of the Aviva Premiership."

McGuigan said: "I'm very pleased to have the opportunity to sign for Sale Sharks.

"It's a great club, with fantastic ambition so it's awesome to come here. It was an easy decision for me to come here.
