Leinster prop Jack McGrath has stressed the importance of playing for the full 80 minutes in this weekend’s Pro12 derby against Munster.

The Irish side beat Cardiff Blues 37-23 in their last match, but allowed Cardiff back into the contest late on when they should have seen out the game comfortably.

McGrath may have missed the side’s last outing through injury but he has still learned an important lessons from the narrow win.

“Obviously we got the five points but there were a few lapses in concentration when they got their two tries and we sort of let them back in to it fairly handy,” McGrath told the IRFU website.

“I think we need to keep our concentration for 80 minutes this week because it’s going to be a one score game.

“If you let (Munster) back in to it, they’ve proven time and time again that they can go on and win it.

“If you keep them in touch they’re a hard team, hard to break down. It’s really imperative this week that we stay focused for the 80 minutes.”

Munster go into the match on the back of a 14-19 loss at home to the Ospreys. The defeat was their second of the season after losing 13-14 to Edinburgh on the opening day.

McGrath has been careful not to underestimate the side and believes they will come out firing on Saturday.

“It’s always going to be a tough grind against these guys. Munster always up their game against us,” added McGrath.

“They lost last week, they’ll be looking to turn that around and I suppose for them there’s no better team to turn it around against than the old rivals.”

McGrath will fill the boots of Cian Healy, who sits out the match with a hamstring injury.
