Crusaders veteran Richie McCaw is expected to be named on the bench for the Super Rugby side in this weekend's play-off with the Reds.
Richie McCaw is expected to be on the Crusaders replacements bench in Saturday's play-off with the Reds.
Openside flanker McCaw played his first fixture in seven months last Saturday – for Christchurch – after enjoying his sabbatical from the game.
Crusaders coach Todd Blackadder watched the game and was pleased with his veteran's form.
“I was always interested in seeing his fitness level at the end of the game, and he looked pretty tired to me which was a good sign for the fact that he had given so much,” Blackadder revealed.
“But the first game of footy after a long time is always going to be pretty tough and I thought he did really well.”
