Saracens Director of Rugby Mark McCall praised his side’s dominant performance in beating Sale Sharks 50-3 in the Champions Cup on Saturday.

McCall paid tribute to his team’s “professional” performance during a rain soaked game.

“Because of the conditions it was hugely important that we did the fundamental things really well today,” he said.

“Our set piece was going to be important, the penalty count was going to be important and I thought we were really professional in tough conditions,” he added.

In a display where the Saracens attack was firing on all cylinders McCall also paid tribute to his team’s discipline set piece.

“Our maul was good, our scrum as good,” he said. “We defended well [and] after a spell in the first 15 minutes where we gave away three penalties we didn’t give a penalties away for a long time.”
