Saracens wing Chris Ashton admits he cannot wait to run out at Kingsholm when his team takes on Gloucester in the Aviva Premiership on Friday.
Ashton, who will face off with England rival Jonny May in the opening game of Round 13, knows that he has an ideal stage to make a point.
That’s just one of the individual clashes set to excite the Shed, with the wing ready for action.
“There’s quite a few match-ups out there on Friday, as both sides have two very strong sides,” said Ashton, speaking to Saracens‘ website.
“I’ll be up against Jonny (May), who has the England shirt at the moment, so it will be an interesting contest between ourselves and it’s one I’m really looking forward to.
“With the Shed, they always get on your back. It’s one of the old traditional grounds where you still get that, and it’s something I actually quite enjoy. You don’t get that at too many places now, and they’re one of a handful of clubs who still have it. I’m really looking forward to going to Kingsholm on Friday night, it should be good game.”
Ashton added that he was impressed by Gloucester’s performance last week when they won at Exeter and believes Saracens must be in their best form at Kingsholm.
“It was great result for them away to Exeter last weekend, but they were a very good side before that result, so our preparation hasn’t changed,” he said.
“We’ve had a good couple of weeks, with a couple of good wins, so we’ve been concentrating on our own game and have been looking to improve on a few things.
“They have some key players in their side, and I’m sure they want to kick on now as they have top four ambitions. It will be a close contest.”
