Bath have completed the signing of Fijian scrum-half Nikola Matawalu from Glasgow Warriors from next season.
The West Country side announced their new recruit, who will arrive after next year’s World Cup for the 2015/16 season.
Matawalu has been a revelation since arriving in Glasgow in 2012, and was voted the club’s player of the season in his first campaign.
However he will now join Bath, who have less depth at scrum-half than in most positions, with Chris Cook and veteran Peter Stringer currently battling it out for a starting role.
“I’m really happy to be joining Bath next season. They are a very ambitious club with a very talented squad and coaching team,” said Matawalu.
“I’m looking forward to getting settled in and testing myself in the Aviva Premiership and top flight of Europe, but for the remainder of the season my focus will be with Glasgow.”
“Niko is an incredibly talented and exciting young player, and we’re eager to see his skill-set worked into our attacking style of play,” added head coach Mike Ford.
“He’s a great character, and we know he’ll fit in really well at the club.”
Bath had been heavily linked with a move for Will Genia, but recent reports suggest they face strong competition from clubs in the Top 14.
